Akshay Kumar attended Don Bosco High School in Mirik, Darjeeling for his primary education. Eventually, he enrolled at Guru Nanak Khalsa College (King’s Circle) in Mumbai, but he never graduated due to his academic failure.
Akshay Kumar Early Life
On September 9, 1967 (age 55 as of 2021), in Amritsar, Punjab, India, Akshay Kumar was born. While attending Don Bosco High School in Mirik, Darjeeling, he also began training in the martial art of karate. Akshay has been interested in sports and martial arts ever since he was a kid. He spent his childhood in Old Delhi before moving to the Mumbai neighbourhood of Koliwada. Eventually, he enrolled at Guru Nanak Khalsa College (King’s Circle) in Mumbai, but he never graduated due to his academic failure.
He uprooted to Bangkok, where he trained in the local martial arts. He has mastered Taekwondo and Muay Thai, and attained the rank of Black Belt in both (Thai Boxing). Akshay held two jobs in Bangkok: chef and waiter. After teaching martial arts in Kolkata and working as a peon for a tourism agency in Kolkata, Akshay relocated to Mumbai. One of his students suggested that Akshay pursue modelling as a career due of his good looks and charisma. His first jobs were modelling jobs in the high fashion industry. Akshay changed his name from Rajeev Om Bhatia to Akshay Kumar after becoming a successful model. Kumar was the stage name of the actor who had starred opposite Akshay’s favourite heroine in a film. He began his career in film by dancing in the background of a number of productions before finally making his acting debut in the 1991 film Saugandh. He starred as the main character in the film Deedar back in 1992. There has been no turning back for him ever then.
Akshay was born into a Hindu family in Punjab. Hari Om Bhatia Sr. worked for the government as an Army officer before leaving his post and taking a job as a UNICEF accountant. The late Dara Singh was close friends with Akshay’s dad. Aruna Bhatia, his mother, was a housewife who passed away on September 8, 2021, in Mumbai.
Twinkle Khanna is the daughter of Bollywood actors Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia, and Akshay married her on January 17, 2001. A son, Aarav, and a daughter, Nitara, round out the family. Akshay is extremely protective of his children’s personal space, and he does his best to shield them from the public eye.

After some time spent as a model, Akshay made his Bollywood debut in 1991’s Saugandh and then acted in the films Dancer, Mr. Bond, James Bond, and Deedar before finally finding success with 1992’s Khiladi. According to reports, Akshay’s life took a dramatic turn after he failed to be on time for a modelling job. His missed flight left him feeling down, so he went around to several studios with his portfolio, hoping to land a job. It was then that Pramod Chakraborty saw his work and hired him for ‘Deedar’ (1992).
While Akshay’s prior films were critical and commercial flops, the actor’s talent in the dance and stunt worlds led to an influx of action film offers. His breakout role in the 1994 film “Yeh Dellagi” propelled him to the forefront of the acting world. Akshay became known as “Bollywood Khiladi” and “Action Hero” after a string of successful Khiladi films, including “Main Khiladi Tu Anari” (1994), “Sabse Bada Khiladi” (1995), and “Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi.” Akshay made his debut in comedic roles with the 2000 smash movie Hera Pheri, in which he starred with Paresh Rawal and Sunil Shetty. Comedy hero status followed him into the sequel to Heri Pheri, in which he also starred.
