Nirav Shah Early Life

Nirav began his career working as an assistant cinematographer or adjunct to established cinematographers on a wide range of projects, including short films, music videos, and television commercials. Soon after, he struck out on his own to pursue his interest in filmmaking.

Nirav Shah Career

Nirav’s first foray into feature film cinematography came in 2004 with the release of “Paisa Vasool,” starring Manisha Koirala and Sushant Singh. Manisha Koirala made her directorial debut with this film. Intequam was Shah’s second film after his debut. Shah’s work in the blockbuster Bollywood film “Dhoom” is largely responsible for making him a household name and a respected cinematographer in Bollywood.

A Star Screen Award nomination for “Best Bollywood Cinematography” was given to Nirav in 2004. As a result, Shah was inundated with proposals from the Tamil film industry, and he eventually made his Kollywood debut in the N.Linguswamy–directed action thriller “Sandakozhi” (2005). In the same year, “Pattiyal” director Vishnuvardhan of the Tamil film industry approached Shah about collaborating on a project. One of Tamil cinema’s most successful partnerships, the trio frequently worked together with music director and composer Yuvan Shankar Raja on a number of films. Arinthum Ariyamalum (2005), Billa (2007), and Sarvam (2008) are just a few of the films in which ‘Vishnu-Shah-Yuvan’ has collaborated.

The Government of Tamil Nadu presented Shah with an award for Billa. He went back to Bollywood for a little while to film things like Dhoom 2 and Banaras. For his work on both films, Shah was nominated for a National Award. For the film Dhoom 2, he won the award for “Best Cinematography in a Bollywood Film.” A couple of the first projects that Shah committed to in 2007 were Pokkiri, directed by Prabhu Deva, and Oram Po, directed by Pushkar-Gayathri. The next year, acclaimed director S.Shankar sent an invitation to Shah to star in his blockbuster film “Enthiran,” widely regarded as the director’s magnum opus. Shah regrettably declined the invitation due to existing obligations.

Shah and Prabhu Deva teamed up again in 2009 for the adaptation of Pokkiri, “Wanted,” which was set in Bollywood. Shah has appeared in many films, including Madrasapattinam, Va, Vaanam, Vettai, Love Failure, Thaandavam, Thalaivaa, Saivam, Kaaviya Thalaivan, Inji Iduppazhagi, Size Zero, Gabbar Is Back, and “Idhu Enna Maayam.” The Chennai film studio he is building and developing is said to be India’s largest.
