Verdict
We have earlier seen many movies with actors playing dual roles, convincing the audience that they are twins. There are also few movies in which look-alikes from different places meeting up and knowing about each other. Trailer of Amigos has already gave the glimpse of what actually the story might be and it exactly meets our imagination.
Movie starts with so much of elevation for a character with NIA naming him as one of the most dangerous criminal in India, but later showcases the character roaming outside without any precautions taken. There are many logics missing the movie. Though the story point looked interesting, narration looks very routine with many commercial elements added through out the movie. Few scenes are well handled, but other scenes will definitely test you patience in the theatres with routine making.
While it comes to performances, Nandamuri Kalyan Ram is seen on three different roles, that has variations in the appearance, but the performance looks same. His negative character is somewhat better when compared to other two characters from the movie. Actress Ashika Ranganath is making her debut in Telugu and she did her part well with limited screen time. Brahmaji evoked few laughs in few scenes. All other actors did their part well as required for the characters.
Technically, Amigos movie looks good. Songs composed by Ghirban are forgettable, but the background music added the required intense for many scenes, though those scenes were poorly executed on screen. Cinematography by S Soundar Rajan is one of the highlights in the movie, but few scenes look over saturated with unwanted lighting in the frames. Editing could have been a little better. Production values are good.
Director Rajendra Reddy selected a unique point but executed the movie in a very routine format that has been followed since years. He is partly successful with his making and need to focus more on his narration.
Overall, Amigos is a good attempt in Telugu in the recent times, but has it flaws in narration.
