Anandaraj Biography
Anandaraj Education
The M.G.R. Government Film and Television Training Institute in Chennai is where Anandaraj earned his bachelor’s degree. Other than his graduation there is no other information available about his education.
Anandaraj Early Life
On November 10, 1958, Anandaraj was born in Pondicherry, India. The M.G.R. Government Film and Television Training Institute in Chennai is where he earned his bachelor’s degree. His early life was spent glued to the screen, as he has always had a passion for cinema. His next step after high school was to enrol in a film school, which he did. After graduating, he had trouble finding work in the film industry, but in 1988, he signed on to play the villain in Oruvar Vaazhum Aalayam, alongside Prabhu and Sivakumar.
Anandaraj Career
Instead of offers coming easily, Anandaraj had to work hard to get his foot in the door with 1988’s Oruvar Vaazhum Aalayam, starring Prabhu and Sivakumar; then, in 1990, En Thangachi Padichava, directed by P. Vasu, gave him his big break in all four of the south Indian languages. In Raja Kaiya Vacha (1990), directed by Suresh Krissna, he co-starred with Prabhu and played a good guy for once. However, he shared the screen alongside Vijayakanth in several movies.
Anand Raj said of his transition into hero roles, “That one gets popular being a villain, people around you usually urge you to take the next step and it was one of those phases when I took up offers to play the main character.” Following Palaivana Paravaigal, he starred in Kaaval Nilayam, Thambi Oorukku Puthusu, Government Mappillai, Pokkiri Thambi, Kizhakku Veluthathchu, David Uncle, En Rajangam, Puthiya Aatchi, and My India. Although many helmers presented him with promising scripts, the films ultimately bombed at the box office. Because of his meteoric rise to fame in the ’80s, Anandaraj co-starred in a handful of action films with R. Sarathkumar. However, while Anandaraj was billed higher than Sarathkumar in the films they appeared in together, the latter failed to maintain his status and eventually returned to bit parts. He has shared the screen with several of the industry’s biggest names, including Balakrishna (Muddula Mavayya), Vijayakanth (Pulan Visaranai), Chiranjeevi (Gang Leader), Rajinikanth (Baashha), Mammootty (Makkal Aatchi), R. Sarathkumar (Suryavamsam), and Vijay (Pokkiri).
Years later, in Ramkumar’s 2014 comedy Mundasupatti, which had audiences in stitches, Anandaraj made a dramatic shift to the comedy genre. The younger generation of moviegoers are major fans of Anandaraj because of his signature style, which has made him a favourite of young directors who design offbeat roles for him to perform.
Even though a villain is supposed to have exaggerated reactions, director Prabhu Deva assigned the role to Anandaraj and asked him not to respond to anything. For a year, Anandaraj trained hard to shed roughly 12 kilogrammes and conform to Prabhu Deva’s vision of how he should look before he was signed to the Action Jackson film franchise (2014). He noticed the lizard tattoo on his head and realised he had to try on a new look for his role as a don in the film.
He was cast in the Naanum Rowdydhaan film alongside Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara (2015). Even if Anandaraj isn’t the primary adversary, he’ll still have nuanced motivations and be complicated by past events. The role of Twinkle Ramanathan in the 2017 film Maragadha Naanayam is his. Katha Nayagan (2017), Sathya (2017), and Gulaebaghavali (2017) are a few of his other recent flicks (2018). He’s almost ideal as the comic antagonist. In 2019, Anandaraj won Best Comedian from Vikatan for his role in the film Jackpot. His character in Bigil (2019) was handled poorly in post-production, and he has voiced his displeasure with the director.
