Following the breakup of his parents, he lived with his mother and continued his education at the school she taught at, St. Patrick School (Devlali, Nashik). Next, he enrolled at the Kodaikanal International School. Later, he completed his education at Hindu College, Delhi, where he earned a degree in economics with high honors.

On November 26, 1972, Rampal was born into a family with a strong military tradition in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India. His grandfather’s father, Brigadier Gurdayal Singh, created the first artillery gun used by the Indian Army after the country gained its independence.
Both his parents are from different religious backgrounds; his Brahmin father is Indian and his Sikh, Dutch mother is Dutch. He was raised in a multi-faith household that observed major holidays such as Christmas, Diwali, and Eid. A career in modelling was next for him. First cousin once removed, Kim Sharma and actor Arjun Rampal both work in the entertainment industry.

As the first Indian male model to achieve international fame, Arjun Rampal has broken new ground for the fashion industry in his home country. Soon after he scorched the ramp with his inimitable panache and pizzazz, he was discovered by filmmaker Rajiv Rai in Pyar Ishq Aur Mohabbat(2001).
