Asha’s parents, V. S. Krishnan Kutty Nair and classical dancer Kalamandalam Sumathi, had her. At the tender age of three, she embarked on a dancing education. She completed her education at Sree Sankara University, Kalady. Upon tying the knot with T V Sharath in 1995, Asha relocated to Dubai. Uthara and Keerthana, their two daughters, were born to them. On Friday, she debuted in her first full-length picture. Asha Sarath received the Kerala State Television Award for second best actress for her role in the tele-serial Nizhalum Nilavum Parayunnathu. The Asianet television series “Kumkumapoovu” was the catalyst for her meteoric rise to popularity. On ‘Kumkumapoovu,’ Asha played the part of a mother of two and a professor at an alternate university, both of which were played by the same person. Kumkumapoovu quickly rose to prominence as one of Asianet’s most critically lauded shows in recent memory.
After the huge popularity of the ‘Kumkumapoovu’ television series, she also appeared in a handful of films. She was cast in critically praised films including “Friday” and “Parvathy.” She first came to prominence alongside Mohanlal in Major Ravi’s breakthrough film, Karmayodha. Asha has recently had another major part breakthrough in the film ‘Drishyam,’ in which she plays an Indian Police Service officer. Her performance was so well received that she was offered the chance to star alongside Kamal Haasan in the sequel to “Papanasam.”
