Nandamuri Balakrishna Education
T. Rama Rao, a Telugu actor and three-time chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, and his wife Basavatarakam welcomed their first child, Nandamuri Balakrishna, on June 10, 1960 in Madras (today’s Chennai, Tamil Nadu). He spent his entire childhood in Madras because the Telugu film business was then centred there. He relocated to Hyderabad during his teens as a result of the Telugu film industry moving there. He received a Balakrishna married Vasundhara Devi in 1982 when he was 22 years old, and the couple had three kids together.
Balakrishna was born in Chennai, where he also lived throughout his childhood and adolescence. He relocated to Hyderabad after the city became the centre of the entire film industry. He graduated from Hyderabad’s Nizam College with a Bachelor of Commerce degree.
Nandamuri Balakrishna Early Life
Balakrishna made his acting debut as a young actor in the N. T. Rama Rao-directed film Tatamma Kala. He appeared in a number of movies, including Daana Veera Soora Karna (1977), Sri Madvirata Parvam (1979), Akbar Salim Anarkali (1979), and Sri Tirupati Venkateswara Kalyanam (1979), many of which were directed by his father. He played a brother to his real-life father, Rama Rao, in the 1975 film Annadammula Anubandham, which was a remake of Dharmendra’s Hindi film Yaadon Ki Baaraat. In the film Dana Veera Sura Karna, Balakrishna played the son of his real-life brother Nandamuri Harikrishna.
Nandamuri Balakrishna Career
As a child actor in the 1974 N. T. Rama Rao-directed film Tatamma Kala, Balakrishna launched his acting career. He portrayed Raghavendra Rao in the 1987 K. Raghavendra Rao-directed movie Apoorva Sahodarulu. He received a great deal of recognition and admiration in 1991 for his performance in Singeetam Srinivasa Rao’s science fiction film Aditya 369. Later, he appeared in movies like Maharathi, Alludu(2000), Veerabhadra, Allari Pidugu, and Vijayendra Varma.
He returned in 2010 with Boyapati Srinu’s Simha, starring opposite Nayantara and Sneha Ullal. He was elected to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 2014, representing the Hindupur district.
He appeared in the movie Boyapati Srinu, Akhanda in 2021 in the dual roles of Aghori Baba and a farmer. He currently appears in more than 100 Telugu movies and runs the Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital and Research.
He has received numerous honors, including two Filmfare Awards for Best Actor and two Nandi Awards.
