Gajraj Rao Early Life
51-year-old Gajraj Rao was born in the city of Dungarpur in the Indian state of Rajasthan.
He was raised in Delhi, though he was born in Rajasthan. As a child, he lived in poverty because his parents were poor. The Indian Railways employed his father. The union of Gajraj and Sanjana Rao has resulted in the birth of two sons. His eldest child is a graphic design major.

At the age of 16, he finished school and joined the theatre company Act One, where he met fellow actors Manoj Bajpayee and Ashish Vidyarthi.
When he first started out, he had to juggle performing with other odd jobs to make ends meet. Iqbal Tailors in Delhi was his first job after graduating. A friend of his later gave him a job at a clothing manufacturer. Since he had a knack for writing, he began freelancing for publications like Navbharat and Hindustan Times. He was quickly given a chance to create anchor scripts for the Doordarshan network. As a playwright, he crossed paths with Indian TV producer Siddhartha Basu, who offered him a job on a show that relied heavily on participation from viewers. The meeting with Pradeep Sarkar, a filmmaker and writer in Bollywood, changed his life. Starting off as a coworker in the advertising film industry, he followed Pradeep Sarkar to Mumbai. Tigmanshu Dhulia, another buddy, introduced him to Shekhar Kapur, the film’s director, later. A role as Ashok Chand Thakur in Shekhar’s film “Bandit Queen” (1994) was offered to him.
Code Red Films was the advertising production company he co-founded with Subrat Ray in 2003. Gajraj is a seasoned actor and director who has worked on numerous memorable advertisements. Commercials for major companies like Maruti Suzuki, Samsung, Cadbury, the Reliance Foundation, HUL, McDonald’s, Flipkart, and Procter & Gamble have been produced by his company.
Code Red Films, his production company, has been recognised both nationally and internationally, winning prizes at festivals such as Adfest Asia, Promax Singapore, The Cup, New York Festivals, and Asia Pacific Advertising. He appeared in supporting roles in several Bollywood movies, including Dil Se (1998), Aks (2001), Dil Hai Tumhaara (2002), Black Friday (2007), and Aamir (2007, as Aamir).
He made his acting debut as Murli Prasad Sharma in the 2015 season of the Hindi web series Bang Baaja Baaraat. Many of the web-series on the YouTube channel ‘TVF’ have featured him as an actor, such as ‘A Day With R D Sharma’ (2016), ‘F.A.T.H.E.R.S.’ (2017), ‘Tech Conversations with Dad’ (2018), and ‘TVF Tripling Season 2’ (2019). The 2018 Bollywood film “Badhaai Ho” catapulted him to stardom.
