Imtiaz Ali Early Life

The date of Imtiaz Ali’s birth in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand is June 16, 1971, making him 48 years old as of 2019. His formative years were partly spent in the city of Patna. Gemini is his horoscope sign.

Since Ali’s father worked for the Indian government’s Irrigation Department, Ali got to tag along with him frequently and learn about the country’s inner workings.

Imtiaz lived with his aunt at the Krim Mansion in Jamshedpur during the winter break from his school year. Since his new home was connected to a movie theatre, he could see movies whenever he wanted, for no cost. Since he became friends with the theater’s projectionist, he was able to see the man at work while he switched film reels. Imtiaz was a poor student who dropped out of school in the ninth grade. But his father strongly urged him to enter the Civil Service.  While he did begin studying for the Civil Services, his passion for film and theatre prompted him to found the Hindu College Dramatic Association (Ibtida). After that, he uprooted to Delhi to enrol in Xavier Institution of Communication’s filmmaking programme. He went on to complete a marketing and advertising course.

The Ali family, to whom Imtiaz Ali belonged, is devout Muslims. Mansoor Ali Sr. worked for the Irrigation Department, and he followed in his footsteps. His mother’s background is a mystery. He’s one of two brothers; his older sibling is the director Arif Ali, and his younger sibling is named Sajid Ali. Ida Ali is Imtiaz’s daughter from his marriage to producer wife Preety Ali. It was in 2012 when the pair finally split up.

Imtiaz Ali Career

Initially in his career, Imtiaz was a writer at Crest Communications, where he supplied scripts to the television producers. In the past, he would spend up to 17 hours a day at work in front of a computer. After that he went on to helm other Doordarshan shows, including Imtehaan, Naina, and Kurukshetra. Then he penned the script for “Socha Na Tha,” and when he heard that Sunny Deol needed a script to introduce his cousin Abhay Deol to the world, he approached Ali about adapting it. In total, he spent three years working on the project. Unfortunately, the film’s box office performance was dismal.

His next film, “Jab We Met,” starring Shahid and Kareena Kapoor, was a commercial triumph. Afterward, he directed box office hits like “Love Aaj Kal” (2009) and “Rockstar” (2011).

There was a film directed by Imtiaz in 2014 called “Highway.” Many critics gave the picture high marks. It was his debut screenplay, written roughly 20 years before the film’s debut. In subsequent films like “Tamasha” and “Jab harry Met Sejal,” Ali resumed his directing career. He has dabbled in acting as well as writing and directing; in the film “Black Friday,” which was inspired by the 2008 Mumbai bombings, he portrayed the role of “Yakub Memon.”
