Indrans Early Life

Date of birth: March 16, 1956 for Indrans. He is the third of Palavila Kochuvelu and Gomathi’s seven children, and he was born and raised at Kumarapuram, Thiruvananthapuram. He is the youngest of six siblings, with two brothers and four sisters.

Indrans’ family came into financial difficulties, so he went to work with his uncle, who was a tailor. After that, he started participating in amateur theatre productions by joining artistic groups. Kaliveedu on Doordarshan was the first role he had ever played on television. In the Kumarapuram neighbourhood of Thiruvananthapuram, he and his brothers K. and K. Jayakumar established a tailoring business they called Indran’s Brothers Tailors.

On February 23, 1985, he tied the knot with Santhakumari. They’re parents to Mahitha, a daughter, and Mahendran, a son.

Indrans Career

Indrans made his acting and designing debuts in the 1981 film Choothattam. For a number of years, he assisted producer TMN Charley with costume design while also performing in a number of supporting parts. An appearance in the 1993 film Meleparambil Anveedu, in which he played a supporting role as a marriage broker, brought him to public attention. When Indrans was cast in the lead role of CID Unnikrishnan B.A., BEd, he finally found his footing in the industry (1994). He was then cast in a number of comic parts throughout the 1990s cinema canon. Indrans was a prominent comedian in Malayalam film at the time because of his lanky physique and offbeat delivery of his lines and mannerisms. Malappuram Haji Mahanaya Joji, Manathe Kottaram, Vadhu Doctoranu, Aadyathe Kanmani, Aniyan Bava Chetan Bava, etc. are just a few of the films in which he starred that will remain in audiences’ minds forever. Uthaman, played by him, was a fan favourite in the cult film Punjabi House from 1998. Many of Indrans’ most commercially successful movies were collaborations with actress Harishree Ashokan.

He also took on supporting parts in the early 2000s. Following this, he gained prominence as a character actor after portraying a thief in the 2004 film Kathavasheshan. At the film’s conclusion in 2009’s Rahasya Police, it was revealed that Indrans was the film’s antagonist. In Pottas Bomb he portrayed another villain (2013). For his role in Apothecary, Indrans received a Special Mention from the Kerala State Film Award.

2016’s Munroe Thuruth, directed by Manu, marked Indrans’ breakout role as an actor. He went on to play several significant character roles in subsequent films. In the films Kaadu Pookunna Neram (2016) and God Say (2017), he portrayed more sombre characters (2017). Famous roles in films like Makkana, Lonam, Paathi, and Buddhanum Chaplinum Chirikkunnu were played by Indrans. Aalorukkam, a film he appeared in in 2017, earned him the title of Best Actor at the 2018 Kerala State Film Award. For his work in Veyilmarangal in 2019, he was honoured with the Best Actor award at the Singapore South Asian International Film Festival. In addition to the Grand Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival, Veyil Marangal took up the Outstanding Artistic Achievement award at the Shanghai International Film Festival. In the film Mohabbathin Kunjabdulla, Indrans starred as the protagonist (2019). Critics praised his brief appearance as serial killer Ripper Ravi in the crime film Anjaam Pathiraa (2020).

At Home, in 2021, he starred as Oliver Twist. Audiences and critics alike praised the film, with many singling out Indrans’ turn as a particular highlight.
