His performance as Satheesan Kanjikkuzhi in Classmates, an aspiring student leader, is widely regarded as a career high point. Subsequently, he was given a bad role in Lal Jose’s Arabikkatha. After playing bad guys in Hareendran Oru Nishkalankan and Kangaroo, this was the next logical step. In 2007 and 2008, he appeared in a wide range of films, including Chocolate as a comically romantic lover, Positive as a serious police officer, Shakespeare M.A. Malayalam as a comical drama scriptwriter, LollyPop as a small-time thief and antagonist, Love in Singapore as a supporting character, and De Ingottu Nokkiye as a young politician.

With his performance in the 2010 film Cocktail, he entered a new era of his career, which was met with widespread acclaim.

In T. V. Chandran’s fantasy film Sankaranum Mohananum (2011), he wore 20 different costumes. Beautiful, in which he starred, was a critical smash hit the next year. His two most successful movies that year were Janapriyan and Beautiful. Jayasurya was named “Star of the Year 2011” by the Malayalam film industry’s trade paper Deepika, which praised his character selection.

Both of the 2012 movies he was in, Trivandrum Lodge and Husbands in Goa, opened on the same day to rave reviews and strong box office returns. The critical acclaim he gained for his turn as a sleazy introverted pervert in Trivandrum Lodge helped to further establish him as a respected performer. The crowd loved his performance as the don in the critically panned but commercially unsuccessful 2013 film Hotel California, and he played a pivotal role in one of Roshan Andrews’ best films, Mumbai Police. In the same year, he received widespread acclaim for his portrayal of an illegal immigrant Kathakali performer-turned-waiter in Shyamaprasad’s English: An Autumn in London.
