He spent 20 years writing plays and performing in the Mahati Theatre Society (founded by his siblings and a few friends), before making his screenwriting debut in the Telugu film industry in 1988. More than 40 movies, including “April 1st Vidudhala,” “Appula Appa Rao,” “Vaarasudu,” “Hello Brother,” “Hitler,” “Arundhati,” “Bhagyalakshmi Bumper Draw,” and many others, include dialogues penned by Sriram. For his remarkable work as a screenwriter, he received many honors, such as the Nandi Award for Best Dialogue Writer in 1999 and the Nandi Award for Best Character Actor in 2009 for the Telugu film “Sontha Ooru,” in which he also acted.

After making a few cameos in a few movies, he decided to become an actor. His big break came in 1999 with the publication of “Chala Bagundi” by E. V. V. Satyanarayana. He won a second Nandi Award for Best Male Comedian in 2000 for his humorous performance in the movie. Additionally, he was given the opportunity to star in the poignant movie “Ammo Okato Tareekhu,” which was adapted from Sriram’s own play, “Onteddubandi.

Since then, he has been in a number of movies, such as Itlu Sravani Subramanyam, Chinna, Hanuman Junction, Avunu Valliddaru Ista Paddaru, Thotti Gang, Dil, Missamma, Mr. & Mrs. Sailajakrishnamurthy, Radha Gopalam, Subhas Chandra Bose, Chatrapathi, Lakshmi, Happy, Baladur, He last appeared in the satirical comedy movie “A Shyam Gopal Varma Film,” directed by Rakesh Srinivas.
