On July 4, 1961, Keeravni was born in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh’s West Godavari. Keeravani’s love of music and song began early in life. The famous filmmaker S.S.Rajamouli is his distant relative. M.M.Keeravani composes the music and background score for all of his films. Keeravani put his own imprint on the industry in addition to his work with Rajamouli, and he was awarded the National Award for best music direction for his work on the film Annamayya.

Keeravani was born to a family of Telugu origin in the city of Kovvur, Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh. Director S.S.Rajamouli and music director/singer M.M. Srilekha are his cousins. His uncle, V. Vijayendra Prasad, wrote and directed films in Telugu and Bollywood. M.M.Srivali, his wife, is a line producer in the film industry. Kaala Bhairava, his eldest son, sang on an album his dad made. Sri Simha, his younger son, made his acting debut in the film Mathu Vadalara.

In 1987, M. M. Keeravani began working for acclaimed composer K. Chakravarthy as an assistant music director. During the 1980s, he contributed to films including Collectorgari Abbayi and Bharathamlo Arjunudu. The 1990 film Kalki, in which he starred as a struggling musician, was supposed to be his big break. The next year, under Mouli’s direction, he appeared in the film Manasu Mamatha, which is widely regarded as his debut in the film industry.

With the film Kshana Kshanam, Ram Gopal Varma gave him his first real break as a music director. The film Criminal catapulted him into the spotlight, and he quickly became a fixture in both the South Indian and Hindi film industries. He then went on to receive the National Film Award for Best Music Direction for the Telugu film Annamayya in 1997 for his efforts. There are also eight Filmfare Awards, eleven State Nandi Awards, and a Tamil Nadu State Film Award to his name.
