Manoj made his acting debut in Arivazhagan’s film Eeram, which was produced by acclaimed filmmaker S. Shankar under the S Pictures label. His performance in the picture was universally lauded. Writes Sify, “The camerawork of Manoj Paramahamsa is the film’s unsung hero. For the first time in Tamil cinema, he used Cyan colour to give the entire picture a hazy blue aspect by removing red from white light, so creating the eerie atmosphere and stillness against the relentless hammering of the rains “.

Rediff also praised “Manoj Paramahamsa’s camerawork is refreshing” for its “sombre and serious, with rain always threatening in some manner” presentation of the film’s present action, and its “normal” and “sunny” presentation of the film’s Trichy flashback episodes. In 2010, he won the Filmfare Award for Best Cinematographer – South for his work on the Telugu adaptation of Gautham Vasudev Menon’s romantic drama Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, titled Ye Maaya Chesave. Nadunisi Naaygal, directed by Menon and starring Sameera Reddy, is a psychological thriller that he shot.  He was a part of S. Shankar’s Tamil translation of 3 Idiots, titled Nanban. For the action movie Poovarasam Peepee, he took on the role of producer.He collaborates with Vijay for Beast.
