Mysskin Early Life

Mysskin entered the world on September 20, 1971. Mysskin, whose real name is Shanmugha Raja, adopted the moniker after being inspired by the title character of Dostoevsky’s The Idiot. Mysskin is a voracious reader who has completed his formal education in Tamil. He was working in a bookstore when director Kathir approached him about joining his team. Chithiram Pesuthadi made his directorial debut with a low-budget film that went on to become one of the year’s biggest hits.

Mysskin Career

He assumed the name Mysskin after reading about Prince Myshkin in Dostoevsky’s The Idiot.  He received his education in Tamil and is a voracious reader. When director Kathir initially approached him, he was working in a bookstore. During their nearly eight-month-long time together, he did not appear in any of his films. The youth was his debut film, directed by Vincent Selva; Jithan, also directed by Selva, was his second. Chithiram Pesudhadi, Mysskin’s first film as director, was a critical and commercial success despite its modest budget. A straightforward love story, the film’s success can be attributed to its fresh approach to storytelling.

After their breakthrough success, Narain and Bhavana, the film’s two leads, became household names. The next film he directed, Anjathe, was a huge success in Tamil cinema. The picture was praised by critics across the board. The film’s narrative approach and Mise-en-scène were hailed as representative of the Tamil new wave. Narain, Prasanna, Vijayalakshmi Ahathian, and a never-before-seen performance by the legendary Pandiarajan featured. His signature yellow saree item numbers, featured in both Mysskin flicks, won over audiences of all ages.

The 19th of December, 2014 saw the release of Pisaasu, which quickly became a commercial and critical success thanks to its realistic depiction of supernatural, horror, and romantic elements. It was the most lucrative Tamil film of 2014 and one of the top commercial hits of 2014. Thupparivaalan, a detective thriller starring Vishal and inspired heavily by Sherlock Holmes, was released on September 14, 2017.

Acting opposite Ram in the 2018 film Savarakathi, he played the film’s antagonist. The film’s box office performance was below average, despite widespread critical acclaim. He also made a significant appearance in Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s March 29th, 2019 film, Super Deluxe. Recently, on January 24, 2020, Udhayanidhi Stalin and Aditi Rao Hydari debuted in his film Psycho. The film was well received by critics and audiences alike, and it helped to revitalize the stale whodunit subgenre.
