Naseeruddin Shah Education
He attended St. Anselm’s Ajmer in Ajmer, Rajasthan, and St. Joseph’s College in Nainital for his early schooling. He pursued higher education and earned a BA in arts from Aligarh Muslim University in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. After that, he went to New Delhi to study at the National School of Drama.
Naseeruddin Shah Early Life
Naseeruddin Shah will have become 73 years old. He was born on July 20, 1949, to a Muslim family in the Indian city of Barabanki. He made his stage debut when he was just 14 years old. His debut performance was in a production of “The Merchant of Venice” by Shakespeare.
Aley Mohammed Shah and Farrukh Sultan had a son whom they named Naseeruddin Shah. His older brother is Retired Lieutenant General Zameerud-din Shah, and he has two more siblings. Zameerud-din Shah is the brother of Aligarh Muslim University’s current Vice-chancellor and a former Lieutenant General in the Indian Army.
The first time he tied the knot was on November 1, 1969, to the late Parveen Murada, also known as Manara Sikri. Shah was 19 and Parveen was 34 when they met. She was a student at Aligarh Muslim University in Pakistan (AMU). However, he developed feelings for actress Ratna Pathak in the 1970s and 1980s. On April 1, 1982, after divorcing his first wife, Manara Sikri, Shah wed Ratna Pathak.
Heeba Shah, an actress, is Shah’s daughter from his first marriage. His sons Imaad Shah and Vivaan Shah are the product of his marriage to his second wife. Both of his sons are in the acting industry.
Naseeruddin Shah Career
The film Nishant marked his first on-screen role (1975). After that, he appeared in films like Aakrosh, Mirch Masala, Sparsh, Trikal, Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyon Ata Hai, Bhavni Bhavai, Mohan Joshi Hazir Ho!, Junoon, Mandi, Ardh Satya, Katha, and many more. He, Tom Alter, and Benjamin Gilani founded the theatre company “Motley Production” in 1977. In 1979, the Prithvi Theatre presented their inaugural production, Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett. It wasn’t until the film “Hum Paanch” that he began working in commercial Bollywood, though.
His breakthrough film, 1983’s “Masoom,” was filmed in his alma mater, St. Joseph College in Nainital. In the 1980s, he appeared in a wide variety of films like Ghulami (1985), Karma (1986), Ijaazat (1987), Jalwa (1988), and Hero Hiralal (1989), among many more. When Gulzar directed a TV series in 1988 about the life of Mirza Ghalib, he got the part. His 100th film, titled “Mohra,” had him in the lead role. His performance in the 1999 film “Sarfarosh” earned him much acclaim. In Kamal Hassan’s 2000 critically praised film “Hey Ram,” he played the character of Mahatma Gandhi. He co-starred with Sean Connery in the 2003 picture The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. The film “A Wednesday,” in which Neeraj Pandey portrayed an everyday citizen, was released in 2008. Reviews were overwhelmingly positive, and he was even nominated for a Filmfare Best Actor prize because of his performance in the film. He had a leading role in “The Dirty Picture” back in 2011. In the Pakistani film Khuda Ke Liye, he had a brief appearance. The Pakistani Academy of Motion Pictures has chosen his second picture, Zinda Bhaag, to represent the country at the 86th Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Language Film category. His first film, 2006’s “Yun Hota To Kya Hota,” marked his directing debut.
