Nassar made his acting debut as a supporting actor in the film Kalyana Agathigal, directed by the illustrious K.Balachander. After then he began playing bad guys in films like S.P.Muthuraman’s Velaikaran and Vanna Kanavugal. He broke through after playing a police officer in Mani Ratnam’s film Nayagan. He went on to appear in numerous films by Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan, including Roja, Thevar Magan, Bombay, and Kuruthipunal, after this part.

Nassar made his directing debut with the film “Avatharam,” which depicts the struggles of a folk art group. Though it wasn’t a box office smash, this film received positive reviews from critics. Following this, he made ‘Devathai’ a film on rebirth. He went on to complain that his hectic schedule prevented him from appearing in the critically acclaimed film Lagaan.

He continued to perform throughout the 1990s, appearing in films including Jeans, Minsara Kanavu, Iruvar, and many more. Nassar typically portrays antagonistic or recurring characters. In the box office smash Baahubali: The Beginning, he played the role of Bhallala Deva’s disabled father.
