Verdict
Pathu Thala is an official remake of the Kannada super hit film Mufti which was released in 2017, though it is a remake, although it doesn’t look like a remake from any angle because it has many characters that we haven’t seen in Mufti. Pathu Thala starts off intrestingly and it has some moments which keep us engaged for a while but over a point, the template-based screenplay and many stretched-out scenes bore you in both halves.
It is purely made for STR fans, despite his screen presence and his look. the routine action drama fails to impress us. OBeli N Krishna peppered the story with nerve-wracking action, that might engage a few sections of the audience. The screenplay is too predictable and dips and rises intermittently from the beginning to the end. Despite the flaws, the film has its moments that are restricted to a few sections of the audience.
Talking about performances, Simbu, as AGR has done a phenomenal job, right from his look to his body language, everything, was a treat to his fans. He is good in actions but could have been better in emotional scenes. Gautham Karthik as the undercover cop did justice for his role, and he did quite well i a few key scenes where he needs to perform and he did an impressive job. Gautham Vasu Dev Menon has done a brilliant job as usual, Priyabhavani Shankar does a fair job, and the rest of the cast did their best as per the story requirements.
OBeli N Krishna’s work in the film is pretty ordinary, though he peppered with solid action blocks, his narrative failed to engage the audiences. He should have thing about universal audiences rather than one zone of audiences.
Technically, Pathu Thala looks great, Farook J Basha’s visuals are pretty impressive, A.R. Rahman’s songs are not up to the mark, and his background is also partly good. The rest of the technical team does well as per the story requires.
Overall, Pathu Thala is a regular action drama that can be watched few sections of audiences.
