Movie Verdict

Horror comedy is a genre that has the opportunity both for some thrilling experience and can also offer few laughs. There are many movies that followed this genre in India, but the trend of making horror comedies has started in Hindi film industry very recently. Phone Bhoot has few good scenes that will surely make the audience laugh their heart out, but story and making of this movie will definitely remind us of many horror comedy movies from other languages, if you are a hardcore movie buff.

Though the comedy worked out well in few scenes, few mindless illogical scenes makes this movie a one time watch. Though horror comedy movies have the freedom to take as much as cinema liberties, that doesn’t mean that you can write whatever comes in mind and present it on screen.

While it comes to the acting performances, Katrina Kaif looks beautiful on screen and tried her best to show off her acting skills. She looks good in few comedy scenes. Ishan Khattar and Siddhant Chaturvedi are the biggest positives in the movie, as they tried to provide entertainment in every scene with their spontaneity and comedy timing. Sheeba Chaddha has very few scenes, but makes her mark as an actor. Jackie Shroff and all other actors did their part as required for the story.

Technically Phone Bhoot movie looks okay. Songs composed by Tanishk Bagchi, Mikey Mccleary, Rochak Kohli & Roy are not up to the mark, but the background score by John Stewart Eduri keeps you engaged. Cinematography by K.U. Mohanan is another highlight in this film. Length of the film is good that depicts the skills of editor Manan Ashwin Mehta. Production values of the movie are very good.

Director Gurmmeet Singh who earlier directed few episodes of Inside Edge and Mirzapur series, tried to present a fun filled entertainer with Phone Bhoot. But he is partly successful in providing the wholesome entertainment with this film.

Overall, Phone Bhoot is an entertaining horror comedy movie that has some hilarious scenes that can be watched on big screen for few laughs.
