He went to the Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai for his formal education. After completing high school, Rahul applied to over 18 different colleges in the United States, but he was rejected from each one. He subsequently enrolled at Sydenham College in Mumbai with the intent of completing his education there.

With the production of “Topsy Turvey” in 1989, Rahul Bose made his professional acting debut. A number of plays followed, including “Are There Tigers in the Congo?,” “Art,” “The Square Circle,” and “Seascape with Sharks and Dancer.” In the 1994 Hinglish film English, August, he made his acting debut as the character ‘Agastya Sen.’ He then got cast in the TV series “A Mouthful of Sky,” where he played the part of “Sarkar/Pavan.”
In the years that followed, Bose appeared in a slew of Bollywood hits like “Bomgay,” “Bombay Boys,” “Split Wide Open,” “Mr. and Mrs. Iyer,” “Pyaar Ke Side Effects,” “Chain Kulii Ki Main Kulii,” and “The Japanese Wife.”
With the release of 2001’s “Everybody Says I’m Fine!,” he made his directorial debut. In addition to acting and directing, Rahul has also worked as a playback singer for the song “Akashe chhorano megher” from the film, “Anuranan.” His role as ‘Mahendra/Indranil’ in the upcoming 2020 Netflix original film “Bulbbul” was filmed in 2020.
