He began his formal education at the Siddheshwar Mandir School and concluded it at the Blue Bells Model School in Gurgaon. He studied karate as a young man. From Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, Delhi University, New Delhi, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. In college, he was a regular performer at the “Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts” and the “Kshitij Repertory” in Delhi. He graduated from the acting programme at the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune in 2008.

His father worked for the federal government in the tax collection division. Kamlesh Yadav, who raised him, passed away. During his childhood, Rajkummar’s family was a nuclear one from the middle class. In particular, he had a strong bond with his mother. During filming of his film Newton, he tragically lost his mother. Gold medalist at the national level in Taekwondo is another one of his many accomplishments. His siblings are Amit and Monika. The two were engaged for a while, but finally tied the knot on November 15th, 2021.

Rajkummar moved to Mumbai to pursue acting after graduating from the Film and Television Institute of India. He spent around a year meeting with casting directors and visiting production studios. After answering an ad placed by casting director “Dibakar Banerjee,” who was looking for new talent, he debuted in the 2010 film Love Sex Aur Dhokha (LSD). He earned $11,000 for his work on the film LSD. The next year, he had a brief cameo in the film Chittagong (2012), playing the role of Lokenath Bal, a freedom warrior. Ragini MMS (2011), Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), and Talaash (2013) are just a few of the films he appeared in (2012).
Rajkummar Rao’s breakthrough role came in Hansal Mehta’s 2012 film Shahid. In the 2013 film “Kai Po Che,” directed by Abhishek Kapoor and starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Amit Sadh, he had a brief appearance as Govind Patel. The movie did well at the box office, and everyone loved Rajkummar’s performance.
Rajkummar appeared alongside Kangana Ranaut and Patralekha in two critically acclaimed dramas released in 2014. Aligarh, starring Manoj Bajpai, is an acclaimed biographical drama in which he plays a journalist. He received a lot of applause for his performance as Newton Kumar in the 2017 film Newton. The films Trapped (2016), Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017), and Stree (2018) all featured him in supporting roles (2018).
Rajkummar portrays Subhas Chandra Bose in Ekta Kapoor’s web series “Bose: Dead/Alive,” released in 2017. The same year he played Omar Saeed in the biographical crime film “Omerta,” he was arrested for a series of drug-related crimes. He starred alongside Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, and Juhi Chawla in the 2019 film “Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga,” directed by Shelly Chopra.
