Sreenivasan Biography

Sreenivasan Education

Sreenivasan attended both Kuthuparamba Middle School and Government High School, Kadirur, and graduated with honours. In economics, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree from PRNSS College, Mattanur. Sreenivasan attended the Film and Television Institute of Tamil Nadu at Chennai in 1977.

Sreenivasan Life

Sreenivasan was born in the village of Patyam, which is located close to the town of Thalassery in the district of Kannur in the North Malabar region of the Indian state of Kerala (retired). Director, songwriter, playback vocalist, dubbing artist, and actor Vineeth Sreenivasan is his eldest son. Dhyan Sreenivasan, his younger son, made his acting debut in his brother’s suspense film Thira. Love Action Drama, Dhyan’s first film as director, starred Nivin Pauly and Nayanthara in a romantic comedy.

Sreenivasan Career

After attending an acting study at the Film Chamber Institute, Sreenivasan made his film debut in the P.A. Backer film Chuchumani in 1977. The film school’s vice principal, A. Prabhakaran, mentored him and cast him in his film Mela. After appearing in a few films, he authored the screenplay for 1984’s Oodarathuammava Aalariyam.

Gandhinagar 2nd Street, Nadodikkattu, and its two sequels, Vadakku Nooki Yanthram and Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala and Chithram, are some of the most well-known films in which he acted and/or wrote.

Some of Sreenivasan’s best films feature comedic depictions of social issues. Films like “Sandesham,” “Vellanakaludey Naadu,” and “Varavelpu” are just a few of his box office hits. His scathing and often amusing remarks take aim at everything from police brutality to pulp magazines to ineffectual labour unions.

Sreenivasan films are known for their superb characterization, witty (often deadpan) dialogue, and self-deprecating humor. His writing frequently includes self-deprecating humour, with the focus usually being on his unattractive physical features; exchanges like these have become standard fare in scenes with co-star Mohanlal.

Some of his most well-known films, including Vadakku Nokki Yanthram and Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala, are praised for their nuanced depictions of human nature and their ability to provoke introspection.

Some of his comedies, including “Aram + Aram = Kinnaram” and “Chitram,” were commercial triumphs and left a lasting impression on audiences. Sreenivasan is the only Malayalam screenwriter and dialogue writer to accurately capture North-Keralite slang, notably that of Tellicherry, which is often distinct, and at times “strange,” as well as being unintelligible to South-Keralite speakers of literary Malayalam.

Kairali TV’s Valiya Lokavum Cheriya Sreeniyum, a famous weekly loser’s program, featured him as a guest star (translation: The Big World and the Little Sreeni). Vineeth Sreenivasan, his son, is a well-known Malayalam vocalist.
