Srijit Mukherji Education
Before attending Presidency College in Kolkata to study economics, Mukherji completed his education at Dolna Day School in Kolkata and South Point High School in Kolkata. He continued on to earn his MA and M.Phil in environmental economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University while concurrently working as a social scientist for TERI in New Delhi’s Urban Transport and Pollution Sector. He left his doctoral program in his first year to work as an econometrician and business analyst at IRI Symphony in Bangalore. After working in Bangalore and spending a short time in Milan, he left his job to pursue theatre and movies full-time.

At India’s 66th National Film Awards, his 2018 film Ek Je Chhilo Raja took home the ‘Best Bengali Film Award. The Best Bengali Film and Best Adapted Screenplay Awards for his 2019 film Gumnaami were given to him at the 67th National Film Awards.
