Sudha Kongara Wiki and Biography: Indian filmmaker and writer Sudha Kongara Prasad are best known for her contributions to the Tamil film industry. She directed the Telugu film Andhra Andagadu in 2008, and the Tamil film Drohi two years later. She won the Filmfare Award for Best Director – Tamil for her work on the 2016 film Irudhi Suttru (Saala Khadoos in Hindi). As a follow-up, she helmed the Telugu version of the film, Guru. Her 2020 film Soorarai Pottru, for which she wrote the screenplay and served as director, was nominated for Best Foreign Film at the 78th Golden Globes. In 2008, she made her directing debut with the critically panned Telugu film Andhra Andagadu, which starred Krishna Bhagavaan.  While filming her debut feature as a filmmaker, Drohi (2010), in Tamil, Kongara started work on a script for a boxing-themed sports drama film she would later title Irudhi Suttru. The film’s financial viability was greatly improved by her decision to approach Madhavan for the main part in the middle of 2013. He was taking a break from Tamil films at the time.

 They had worked together before when Sudha was an assistant director on one of Madhavan’s films directed by Mani Ratnam. She dubbed her Telugu adaptation of Irudhi Suttru “Guru.” Her subsequent film, Soorarai Pottru, is based on the real-life story of Air Deccan’s founder, Captain GR Gopinath, and was produced by Suriya’s 2D Entertainment and co-produced by Guneet Monga of Sikhya Entertainment.
