This show has taken the place of another one, Chellamay, on television. Vani Rani debuted on January 21, 2013, and as of February 23, 2018, it had aired over 1500 episodes. CJ Baskar takes over as director starting with episode 1521. It was initially helmed by O.N. Rathnam, V.C. Ravi, A. Ramachanthiran, and R. Aravindraj.

Vani Rani Story
After the tragic deaths of their parents, Vaani and Raani are taken in and reared by their uncle Maanikkam. Raani gives up her dreams of becoming a lawyer to support Vaani’s. After years, Vaani becomes a wealthy lawyer and marries Bhoominaathan, a granite businessman. As for the wedding, Raani weds Bhoominaathan’s half-brother Swaminaathan, a successful restaurant owner. Manohar, the son of Maanikkam, develops feelings for Jyothi, the sister of Bhoominaathan. Raani is punished by her uncle and future mother-in-law, Angayarkanni, for arranging the marriage. When Raani tries to contact Vaani again, Vaani cuts off all communication.
Vaani and Bhoominaathan become exceedingly prosperous over the years, while Raani and Swaminaathan’s fortunes decline as Swaminaathan’s businesses collapse. Suryanarayana and Gautham are Vaani’s sons, while Saravanan, Selvi, and Thenmozhi are Rani’s. They share a single dwelling together. Angayarkanni’s entrance only makes matters worse because he is envious of Vaani and Raani’s intimate bond. Raani’s oldest daughter, Selvi falls in love and marries Rajesh with only Vaani as a chance witness, leading in Vaani and Raani to get divorced. However, Bhoominaathan comes to terms with his mistakes, changes his ways, and seeks to reunite the family by having his mother move out.
