Brijendra Kala Early Life

Brijendra Kala was born in the village of Sumari in the Uttarakhand district of Pauri Garhwal in 1969. His father worked at a vet facility. His dad always pushed him into the medical field.

Kala had applied to join the National School of Dramatic Repertory, but by the time he reached the interview to the address given, the batch was full. He followed up up with an application to the Shri Ram Center for the Performing Arts Repertory, but was turned down there, too.

Brijendra Kala Career

After spending almost 18 years in the theatre industry, Kala made the transition to cinema. In 2003’s Haasil, he played a small role as a newspaper vendor for the first time in the film industry. Shabd, Raghu Romeo, and Bunty Aur Babli all starred in many 2005 films released by Kala. Ahista Ahista, Gafla, Mithya, Jab We Met, Aloo Chaat, Dasvidaniya, Saluum, Raat Gayi Baat Gayi, Karthik Calling Karthik, and Dus Tola all featured him in some capacity.

The public took notice of Irfan Khan in his performance as a journalist in the 2012 film directed by Tigmanshu Paan Singh Tomar. PK starred Amir Khan, Anushka Sharma, Boman Irani, and Saurabh Shukla, with Brijendra playing a minor role as an idol salesman (Murti trader outside of temple).

She became widely acclaimed for her role as Uncle Shabbily Dressed in Rajat Kapoor’s Ankhon Dekhi (2013). Angrezi Mein Kehte Hain, Udanchoo, Dhh, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Qarib Qarib Single, Jolly LLB 2, Tubelight, Rustom, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, and FryDay are some of the upcoming films he will star in.
