Gurukiran Biography

Gurukiran Education

In the early 1970s, he attended St. Aloysius Primary School, where he was an involved class vocalist. After earning his Commerce degree from Mangalore University, he began performing as a singer and keyboardist in orchestras.

Gurukiran Early Life

He began his career in 1994 as director V. Manohar’s assistant after being born on October 28 in Mangalore, Karnataka to parents K Jayaram Shetty and Ratnakanti. They have two children, Hrudaya and Shravya, thanks to his marriage to Pallavi Guru Kiran.

Gurukiran Career

In 1998, with the film A, starring and directed by Upendra, Gurukiran made his debut in the film industry as a music director. As a result of the film’s commercial success, Upendra requested his services for his subsequent film project. The 1999 Kannada psychological thriller Upendra had music composed by Gurukiran and lyrics written by Upendra.

Gurukiran’s passions weren’t limited to music, though; he also wanted to act, so he gave Sandalwood a shot. In his role as cameraman, Gurukiran’s debut film was called Mr. Shanker Bekal. Subsequently, in Sunil Kumar Desai’s 1993 heist thriller Nishkarsha, he played his first significant part. Though he tried, he was unable to make a significant impression in the acting world.

In 2005, he broke out when he sung the songs Hodi Maga and Bin Ladennu Nan Maava in the Shivarajkumar-starring film Jogi. The pre-release sales of this album set a new benchmark in the history of the Kannada cinema industry. Yogi, the 2007 Telugu adaptation of Jogi directed by V. V. Vinayak, marked his debut in the industry. In 2010, he composed the score for the Telugu movie Nagavalli.

Gurukiran has served as a judge on a number of singing competitions, including Asianet Suvarna’s Season 2 of Confident Star Singer and ETV Kannada’s Ede Tumbi Haduvenu. He contributed vocals to a number of successful Kannada movies, notably the romantic anthem “Kanasina Maratta” from the film “Banna Bannada Loka.” To name just a few of the honours bestowed upon Gurukiran for his work in the Kannada film industry is the 2011 Karnataka State Film Award for Best Music Director.
