Between him and his first wife, he has two sons: Jai and Pallava. In addition to helping his father on films like “City Lights” (2014), “Shahid” (2012), “Aligarh” (2015), and “Scam 1992,” Jai himself is a filmmaker. Hansal Mehta Career

Hansal made his directorial debut with the hit cuisine show Khana Khazana on Zee TV in 1993. Hansal had been tasked by the show’s producers to find a beautiful woman to host. The show was a smashing success, rocketing to the top of the ratings and making a household celebrity out of chef Sanjeev Kapoor.

Highway (1995), Yaadein (1995), Lakshya (1998), and Neeti (2000) were some of the other television shows he directed (1998). The Bollywood film Dus Kahaaniyan is based on an episode of his series Highway (2007). The 1997 Bollywood film Hansal directed, titled Jayate, was based on the 1984 Bollywood film Saaransh, but it was never shown in theatres. As part of the Indian Panorama during the Hyderabad International Film Festival, the film was screened (1999).

The acclaimed filmmaker overcame a challenging childhood. His bankruptcy was caused by the box office failure of his 2000 film “Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar!!,” which starred Manoj Bajpayee and Tabu. The films Chhal (2002), Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai? (2002), and Woodstock Villa (2002) were among his subsequent failures in the industry (2008). After the poor reception to Woodstock Villa, Hansal stepped away from the director’s chair for three years. He left his position as a producer at White Feather Films Ltd, which was established by renowned filmmaker and producer Sanjay Gupta.

Hansal returned from his vacation to win the National Film Award for best director for his work on the biographical drama film “Shahid.” Human rights advocate and lawyer Shahid Azmi became well-known for his work on behalf of persons wrongly accused of terrorism. In 2010, he was murdered. During the 2012 edition of the Toronto International Film Festival, the film made its world debut.

His 2015 film Aligarh was a critical and commercial success, earning him a standing ovation at both the 20th Busan Film Festival and the 17th Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival. Mr. Mehta’s web series Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, released in 2020, was his first commercially successful endeavour as a director. It premiered on Sony’s OTT service and quickly became the most popular Indian web series to date. In it, the life of Harshad Mehta was chronicled, a stockbroker who was accused of orchestrating India’s largest financial swindle.
