Mohit Suri Early Life

Mohit Suri is a film director, assistant director, and Bhatt family member who was born on April 11, 1981 in India. And his cousin Emraan Hashmi has appeared in three films directed by his uncle Mahesh Bhatt. His sister Smilie Suri has also appeared in his film Kalyug.

The late Heena Suri was the youngest sister of the filmmakers Mukesh and Mahesh Bhatt, from whom Suri takes his surname. A heart attack took her life at age 37, when Suri was only 8 years old.

According to an interview he gave, Suri says he and his dad had a strained relationship. He added that his father would only care for Suri’s sister, Smiley, and wouldn’t spare even a moment for him.

He began in the industry as an assistant director and directed his first picture, Zeher (2005), which was met with moderate success. To follow it up, he released Kalyug, his most commercially and critically successful work to date. Woh Lamhe (2006), his third feature, did not perform as well commercially but was favourably received by critics.

Awarapan (2007), his next film, was a critical and financial success. Mohit stated, during an interview with Radio Sargam, “When it comes to my own writing, I am quite harsh on myself. I would never, ever brag that something I created was a masterpiece. Every day, I try my hardest, and I pray that it’s enough.” Raaz: The Mystery Continues (2009), Mohit’s follow-up, was again well-received by audiences.

His first picture, Zeher (2005), was only mildly successful, but it marked his debut as a director. Kalyug (2005), the sequel, too received positive reviews and did well at the box office. Woh Lamhe (2006), his third feature, did not perform as well commercially but was favourably received by critics. His subsequent film, Awarapan (2007), was equally well-received by critics but underperformed commercially.
