Nadhaswaram Story
Gopikrishnan, the second son of a large family, is at the centre of the events at Nadhaswaram, which takes place in Pallathur, Karaikudi. Chokkalingam, Gopi’s father, and Mayilvahanam, Gopi’s paternal uncle, are both accomplished Nadhaswaram musicians. Gopi, the son of Chokkalingam and Meenakshi, is a mature young man. A local tailor, Gopi and his assistant Kaja are good friends. Maheswari, Ragini, and Geetha are Gopi’s three younger sisters. Sivagnanam, the eldest of the four siblings, ran away from home after being reprimanded by their mother, Mayilvahanam, many years ago. Mayilvahanam and his wife, Deivanai, are parents of three younglings. Pandikumar is the eldest; he is a worthless small-town thug who often provokes fights with the other children in the hamlet. Girls Kameshwari and Parmeshwari make up the rest of the family. Mayilvahanam values Pandi more than he does his daughters since he considers the latter a liability until they find suitable husbands, while he views his son as an investment.
