In films like “Kabzaa,” “King Uncle,” “Ram Lakhan,” “Daud,” “Baazi,” and “Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja,” among many others, he played the villainous lead during the 1980s and 1990s. The film “Andaz Apna Apna” featured him in a dual role.

After the release of the 2000 film ‘Hera Pheri,’ in which he played the role of the kindly but naive Marathi landlord Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, he skyrocketed to fame. The film’s huge success can be attributed to his brilliant comedic timing and the tragic comedy that permeates the plot.
