In films like “Kabzaa,” “King Uncle,” “Ram Lakhan,” “Daud,” “Baazi,” and “Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja,” among many others, he played the villainous lead during the 1980s and 1990s. The film “Andaz Apna Apna” featured him in a dual role.

After the release of the 2000 film ‘Hera Pheri,’ in which he played the role of the kindly but naive Marathi landlord Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, he skyrocketed to fame. The film’s huge success can be attributed to his brilliant comedic timing and the tragic comedy that permeates the plot. For this film, he also took home the “Filmfare Best Comedian Award.” It was after this that he began to receive offers to play the lead or primary character in films by prestigious directors.

First appearing on Doordarshan’s “Bante Bighadte” in 1984, he quickly became a household name in India. Aside from acting, Paresh is also a skilled producer, having created such popular shows as “Teen Bahuraaniyaan,” which airs on Zee TV, “Main Aisi Kyunn Hoon,” which airs on Sahara One, and “Laagi Tujhse Lagan,” which airs on the Colors channel.

Oh My God!, his debut feature film, was met with widespread critical and commercial success in 2012. His latest film is a biography of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
