Sanjay Dutt Early Life

Sanjay is a 62-year-old Bollywood star from Mumbai, Maharashtra who was born on July 29, 1959.  Later, he made the decision to quit, and with the help of drug treatment, he was able to finally kick his addiction. He decided to go by the name “Sanjay” instead of “Sunjay” in an effort to start over.

Sanjay’s mother died on May 2, 1981, from pancreatic cancer following a protracted battle with the disease. After her passing, he listened to an audio recording of Nargis’s final moments of struggle, and it broke his heart. In it, she pleaded with her son Sanjay to always be true to himself and his instincts, and never to put on airs.

Sanjay comes from a famous Punjabi family in the Indian film industry; both his father, the late Sunil Dutt, and mother, the late Nargis Dutt, were legendary actors in the country. Priya Dutt is a politician, and Namrata Dutt is married to another well-known Indian actor, Kumar Gaurav, one of his younger sisters.
