Brother of both film directors and actors Rakesh Roshan and Hrithik Roshan, Rajesh Roshan is the son of Hindi film composer Roshan. His nephew, the actor Hrithik Roshan, is his uncle. Faiyaz Khan was his instructor.

Rajesh Roshan’s parents are both Hindus; his father is from Punjab and his mother is from Bengal. He has a son (Eshaan Roshan) and a daughter (Pashmina Roshan). He is the son of Hindi cinema composer Roshan. He is the brother of Indian cinema producer and director Rakesh Roshan.

Rajesh Roshan’s collaborations with Kishore Kumar, Basu Chatterjee, Dev Anand, Mohammed Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, and Asha Bhosle were all fruitful. In particular, his work on the films Kunwara Baap (1974) and Julie (1975), for which he received the Filmfare Best Music Director Award, catapulted him to prominence.

Roshan had success with Kunwara Baap (1974) and then again with Des Pardes (1975), Man Pasand (1976), and Lootmaar (1977).
