Brother of both film directors and actors Rakesh Roshan and Hrithik Roshan, Rajesh Roshan is the son of Hindi film composer Roshan. His nephew, the actor Hrithik Roshan, is his uncle. Faiyaz Khan was his instructor.

Rajesh Roshan’s collaborations with Kishore Kumar, Basu Chatterjee, Dev Anand, Mohammed Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, and Asha Bhosle were all fruitful.
