Based on the real life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, who played a heroic and historic role during the Bangladesh War of 1971, Sam Bahadur is a biographical drama. In 1971, Sam Manekshaw told Pakistan that the whole Pakistani army would be wiped out if they did not surrender. As a result of his historic warning 93,000 Pakistani soldiers voluntarily surrendered to the Indian army.
