Shobana Early Life
Shobana was born to parents Chandrakumar Pillai and Anandam Chandrakumar on March 21, 1970, in Thiruvananthapuram.
She is a relative of the famous traditional Indian dancers and actresses the Travancore sisters, Lalitha, Padmini, and Ragini. Her father’s sister was the actress Sukumari. Her cousin is Malayalam superstar Ambika Sukumaran. Vineeth and Krishna, both Malayalam actors, are his cousins. Their adoptive daughter is named Ananthanarayani.
When it comes to relationships, Shobhana is all alone. When she adopted a baby girl called Anantha Narayani in 2011, she suddenly found herself raising a child alone.
Shobana Career
The novels Rudraveena (1988), Abhinandana (1988), Thalapathi (1991), and Manichitrathazhu (1992) are among her finest (1993). She is a skilled performer of the Bharatanatyam dance form and opened her own dancing academy in 1994. In 2006, the Government of India awarded her the Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian honours.
Shobana made her acting debut in the 1972 Bollywood film Amar Prem; however, her first prominent part was in the 1975 Malayalam film April 18. (1984). The movie was a commercial and critical success, making her a household name. After the success of Kanamarayathu (1984), T.P. Balagopalan M.A. (1986), Chilambu (1986), Nadodikkattu (1987), Kalikkalam (1990), and Maya Mayuram (1994), she went on to star in many more films (1993). She won her first National Award for her performance in the 1993 psychological thriller Manichitrathazhu. Following this, she starred in several critically acclaimed films, including Hitler (1996), Agni Sakshi (1999), and Valliettan (2000).
Her work in the empowering female-led film Mitr: My Friend (2002) garnered her a second National Prize for her. Also, you may recognise Shobana from Dance Like a Man (2003), an English film, and Mambazhakkalam, a blockbuster Malayalam film, both of which she starred in (2005). She has lately been seen in Apna Aasman (2007), Mere Baap Pehle Aap (2008), and the Rajinikanth blockbuster Kochadaiiyaan (2014). The novel Varane Avashyamund will be published by her in 2020.
