His father was a dentist in Delhi, but he was born in Nagpur.  Soon after finishing high school, he enrolled at the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune.

He tied the knot with a woman named Rehana, also known as Mukta. Meghna Ghai puri, the older, and Muskaan Ghai, the younger, are his daughters. The president of Whistling Wood International Institute is Meghna Ghai Puri. He was born and raised in Nagpur, although he went to college in Delhi. His daughter Amna Sheriff is also an actor, and his younger brother’s name is Anil Ghai.

Subhash Ghai Career

He began his career in film as an actor, appearing in films like Aradhana (1969) and Umang (1970), then he directed his first film, Kalicharan (1976). In addition to his fame as a director, Subhash’s Mukta Arts Private Limited has produced a number of critically acclaimed films, such as the 2006 National Award winner Iqbal.

The veteran actor’s contributions to Indian cinema extend beyond his on-screen performance; he also founded a film school in Mumbai called Whistling Woods International Film and Media Institution, which trains up and coming actors and filmmakers.

His filmography encompasses the ’60s and ’70s with titles like ‘Taqdeer’ and ‘Ardhana. Kalicharan was his first picture as a filmmaker, and it came highly recommended by Shatrughan Sinha. Jackie Shroff’s introduction to the movie business was facilitated by one Ghai ji. A major part in the film Hero was played by him. He was also instrumental in Anil Kapoor’s rise to stardom.

In Mumbai, he opened his own film school called Whistling Woods International. In 2000, he founded the successful company Mukta Arts private limited. Numerous film industry accolades were bestowed upon him. After taking some time away from the business, he returned with the 2008 films Black and White (released on March 7) and Yuvraj (released in November). The songs were featured in his movie Khalnayak, which starred Sanjay Dutt and was released in 1993.
