Anees Bazmee Early Life

Anees Bazmee was born to Urdu poet Abdul Hameed “Nerang” Bazmee and housewife Khatoon Begum in the small village of Modasa in the Indian state of Gujarat. In 1976, he arrived in Mumbai and began his career as a young artist. Later on, he tried his hand at a variety of other fields, such as art direction, editing, and sound recording.

Anees Bazmee Career

Bazmee’s first film as a director was 1995’s Hulchul, but he didn’t find commercial success until 1998’s Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, which was one of the year’s highest-grossing Bollywood movies. After directing the modestly successful romantic thriller Deewangee, he went on to direct the critically acclaimed and financially successful comedies No Entry (2005), Welcome (2007), Singh Is Kinng (2008), Ready (2011), and Welcome Back (2015), among others (2002).

Dialogue writing for the film Hum Farishte Nahin marked his first professional engagement as an artist. After taking a year off, he returned to his career as a writer with the film Swarg. David Dhawan directed this film, and he frequently collaborated with Anees Bazmee on his subsequent films. As of 1995, he was working in the department of direction. His debut feature film as director was titled Aankhen.

He had worked as a screenwriter on ten films before making the switch to directing. He made his directorial debut with the film Hulchul, in which Kajol and Ajay Devgn starred. The same actors appeared in his second critically acclaimed film, Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha. Not only did it earn a respectable sum at the box office, but it also was widely praised by film reviewers.

After a hiatus of five years, he returned to directing with the film Deewangee. Most of the Bollywood audience fell in love with him after seeing his film Singh is Kinng, which is a truly lovely film. Of course he deserved the success that the film brought to Bollywood cinema. He is now adapting the Hollywood comedy The Hangover. His experimental directing style is predicted to set a new standard.
