Sooraj Barjatya Early Life
Sooraj Barjatya’s family is of Marwari Jain descent, and he was born in Mumbai. At the urging of his grandpa, Tarachand Barjatya, he directed his first film, Maine Pyar Kiya, for Rajshri when he was just 24 years old. In 1986, he wed Vineeta Barjatya, with whom he has three children.
Sooraj Barjatya Career
Both his and Salman Khan’s careers were jumpstarted by his first film as a filmmaker, Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), which starred Salman Khan. In 1994, he starred alongside Salman in the record-breaking hit Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, and in 1999, the pair reunited for the smash hit Hum Saath-Saath Hain: We Stand United.
Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon, starring Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor, and Abhishek Bachchan, was his fourth film and the first to bomb at the box office. After the failure of Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, he came back strong with Vivah (2006), which starred Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao and became one of his most successful films to date.

About fifteen prizes have been nominated for Barjatya’s Vivaah, the film that made Shahid Kapoor a household name in Bollywood. Many other prizes, including the Star Screen Award, Filmfare Award, and many others, have been given to his films. The latest Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, starring Salman Khan, was another successful family film that debuted on Diwali. Rajshri Productions is a 67-year-old global film, media, and entertainment business, and Barjatya serves as its proud chairman. The best screenplays and a warm, familial vibe have helped Barjatya’s movies become box office and critical smashes.
