Verdict

Nandamuri Balakrishna is one of the most celebrated actors in Telugu and his craze has already crossed the boundaries. He always chooses the scripts that will entertain his fans. Though he appeared in many experimental movies in the past, mass & commercial movies are his strongest genres that always fetch the profits to his movie producers. Veera Simha Reddy is one such commercial entertainer that is made keeping in mind to entertain Nandamuri Balakrishna fans.

We have earlier seen many movies with the same plot previously which starred Balakrishna in the lead role. Veera Simha Reddy is not an exception from these movies and follows similar plot with all the commercial liberties added to it. First half of the movie starting with an high elevation scene for hero introduction followed by a song, a few routine scenes then a fight with a small revelation during the interval, this is how Veera Simha Reddy is presented. Movie mostly works due to the undisputed stardom of Balakrishna and the way he delivers the dialogues that will connect with the masses.

While it comes to acting performances, Nandamuri Balakrishna once again entertained audience in his own style and his dialogue delivery is very good as always. Though the actor has repetitive kind of characters and dialogues, audience love him to see the same way on screen and we can’t disobey that. Shruti Haasan is okay in a limited role and her dance moves alongside Balakrishna will surely make audience whistle in the theatres. Duniya Vijay looks raw in the movie and his performance in a negative role is good. Varalakshmi Sarathkumar could have been better. Honey Rose, Naveen Chandra, Lal and all other actors did their part with limited screen presence.

Technically Veera Simha Reddy movie looks good. Songs composed by Thaman S are one of the major highlights in the movie and background score is loud for few scenes, but that looks apt for such scenes. Cinematography by Rishi Punjabi is another highlight of the movie with some commendable frames. Length of the movie could have been trimmed by few minutes. Production values are very good.

Director Gopichand Malineni once again choose a mass entertainer with all the commercial elements. Story & screenplay of the movie is very predictable and has nothing new to offer.

Overall, Veera Simha Reddy movie is an out and out mass entertainer that will entertain Balakrishna fans to the core, but might not work with the family audience. We need to wait and see how family audience will received this movie in theatres.

Plus Points:

  • Nandamuri Balakrishna
  • Music & Background Score

Minus Points:

  • Story
  • Screenplay
  • Over the top fight sequences
